National Reconciliation Week 2025

Bridging Now to Next: 27 May – 3 June 2025
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared history, celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and consider how we can each play a part in achieving reconciliation.
This Year’s Theme: Bridging Now to Next
The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, speaks to the enduring connection between the past, present, and future. It urges us to carry forward the lessons of history, stay engaged in the present, and actively shape a more united future for Australians.
In a time of reflection and uncertainty around the reconciliation journey, this theme calls on every Australians to step forward together.
Symbol of Strength and Renewal
The #NRW2025 theme artwork, created by Kalkadoon artist Bree Buttenshaw, features native plants that thrive through adversity and regenerate after fire. These powerful symbols represent our collective resilience and the possibilities that lie ahead when we commit to walking together.
“This is a time for growth, reflection, and a shared commitment to renewal.”
Looking Back, Moving Forward
Reconciliation in Australia has never been a straight path. It’s a journey shaped by both meaningful milestones and difficult setbacks.
Twenty-five years ago, Corroboree 2000 brought together Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders in a historic call for reconciliation. That same year, the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk saw hundreds of thousands of Australians walk side by side in support of justice and recognition for First Nations peoples.
In 2025, we continue that legacy. Bridging Now to Next invites all Australians to build on the momentum of those who came before us—to be part of a future grounded in truth, respect, and unity.
Join us this National Reconciliation Week as we reflect, learn, and move forward—together. #NRW2025 #BridgingNowToNext
